COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio State Four-Miler, a running and walking event that debuted in 2013 with a sold-out field of 10,000 participants, will return to the Ohio State campus for the fourth-annual event on Oct. 23, 2016.
The Ohio State Four-Miler will once again start outside of Ohio Stadium and take participants on a four-mile tour of the Ohio State campus before finishing on the 50-yard line of Ohio Stadium. The Ohio State Four-Miler Post-Race Tailgate Party will be held outside Ohio Stadium before and after the race.
The 2015 Ohio State Four-Miler featured a sold-out field of 15,000 runners and walkers. The inaugural event in 2013 sold out at 10,000 participants.
“The overwhelming response and success of the Ohio State Four-Miler the past three years has been a direct reflection for the love of Ohio State sports and the desire to celebrate football and fitness,” said Ray DeWeese, General Manager of IMG Sports Marketing. “We look forward to growing this event again in 2016 and allowing Buckeye Nation to fulfill its dream of running across the 50-yard line inside Ohio Stadium.”

A portion of the proceeds of the Ohio State Four-Miler benefit the Urban and Shelley Fund For Cancer Research, a general cancer research support fund dedicated to advancing cancer research at Ohio State’s Comprehensive Cancer Center — Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute.
The 2016 Ohio State Four-Miler will begin at 10am. Former Ohio State athletes, including football and basketball players such as Scoonie Penn, Raymont Harris, Bobby Carpenter, Anthony Schlegel, Ryan Miller, William White, Justin Zwick, J.J. Sullinger and Dimitrious Stanley; Brutus Buckeye; Ohio State cheerleaders and others are expected to participate again in 2016.
The Ohio State Four-Miler is produced by the Ohio State Department of Athletics; IMG College, the university’s multimedia rights partner; the Buckeye Cruise For Cancer; and M3S Sports.

Runners and walkers will receive an Ohio State-themed technical race shirt a must-have Buckeye-themed Official Finisher’s Medal. The 2013 medal featured an iconic image of Ohio Stadium; the 2014 medal featured the iconic Ohio State football helmet; and 2015 medal featured Brutus Buckeye.
