Buckeyes-Themed Ohio State 4 Miler Allows Runners, Walkers to Finish on Ohio Stadium's 50-Yard Line.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A record field of 15,000 runners and walkers “finished on the 50-yard line” of Ohio Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 25 as part of the largest four-mile running and walking event in the country.

The third-annual Ohio State 4 Miler, a running and walking event that debuted in 2013 with a sold-out field of 10,000 participants, drew a record field to Ohio Stadium as thousands gathered to Celebrate Football and Fitness.

The Ohio State 4 Miler started outside of Ohio Stadium and took participants on a four-mile tour of the Ohio State campus before finishing on the 50-yard line of Ohio Stadium. The Ohio State 4 Miler Race Day Tailgate Party featuring SWAGG was held outside Ohio Stadium before and after the race.

Buckeye Greats such as Scoonie Penn, Raymont Harris, Bobby Carpenter, Anthony Schlegel, Terrence Dials, Ryan Miller, Matt Finkes, Craig Krenzel, Tom Couisneau, William White, Justin Zwick, J.J. Sullinger and Dimitrious Stanley; Brutus Buckeye; Ohio State cheerleaders and others were on hand to serve as celebrity starters and celebrate the 15,000 runners and walkers who participated. Carpenter and Schlegel “high fived” the participants as they finished inside of Ohio Stadium.

The 15,000 runners and walkers registered for the 2015 Ohio State 4 Miler was a record for the three-year-old event. The 2014 Ohio State 4 Miler featured a sold-out field of 12,000 runners and walkers, while the inaugural event in 2013 sold out at 10,000 participants.

A portion of the proceeds of the Ohio State 4 Miler benefit the Urban and Shelley Fund For Cancer Research, a general cancer research support fund dedicated to advancing cancer research at Ohio State's Comprehensive Cancer Center — Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute.

The Ohio State 4 Miler is produced by the Ohio State Department of Athletics; IMG College, the university's multimedia rights partner; the Buckeye Cruise For Cancer; and M3S Sports.

Runners and walkers received Ohio State-themed technical race shirts and a must-have Brutus Buckeye-themed Official Finisher's Medal. The 2013 medal featured an iconic image of Ohio Stadium and the 2014 medal featured the iconic Ohio State football helmet.
